Birdies for Charity 2018
Birdies for Charity is an amazing opportunity that has been promoted by The Thunderbirds to encourage charities to fundraise using the ever-popular Waste Management Open as a way of soliciting sponsors. One hundred percent of all monies collected for Birdies For Charity goes directly to the Charity that solicits the pledges. All of the administrative costs for Birdies For Charity are paid by the Thunderbirds.
Simply pledge one cent or more to Waste NOT for every birdie that will be made by the PGA Tour players, Thursday through Sunday at the 2017 Waste Management Phoenix Open. It’s estimated that between 1,300 and 1,800 birdies will be made.
Here’s an example of how it works:
Individual Pledge – $.01 per birdie x 1,500 birdies = $15 pledge
Corporate Pledge – $1.00 per birdie x 1,500 birdies = $1,500 pledge
Cumulative Pledges – $7.00 per birdie x 1,500 birdies = $10,500 pledge
- The Thunderbirds have generated more than $93 million for local charities just since 1987 when the then Phoenix Open moved to the TPC Scottsdale.
- The Thunderbirds were founded in 1937 with the mission of promoting the Valley of the Sun through sports. The Thunderbirds consist of 55 “active” members and more than 250 “life” members.
- 100% of the monies pledged goes to the charity you chose
- The Pledge deadline is 5PM Sunday, February 4, 2018
