Dear valued friends, supporters and partners of Waste Not,
A few weeks ago, I announced my impending retirement after 16 years as President & CEO of Waste Not. I also shared that our executive search committee was conducting a search for my successor. Now, I come to you with an exciting announcement: we have found her!
Kate Thoene was named Executive Director of Waste Not, effective April 2, 2018. Kate joins Waste Not from her previous position of director of social enterprise and employment at the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SAARC), where she served for four years. In addition to her leadership and accolades achieved in her key role at SAARC, Kate brings to Waste Not a passion for serving those in need and feeding the hungry, developed in her time as Chief Social Enterprise Officer at UMOM and Director of Community Kitchen Programs at St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
Besides stellar credentials, Kate exhibits warmth, energy, honesty and integrity in all her efforts and endeavors. It has been a joy getting to know her over the past few weeks. She has hit the ground running and I have every confidence she will carry the torch forward taking Waste Not to new heights in service to the hungry men, women and children of our community. Please join me in welcoming her and in congratulating her.
I don’t like goodbyes, so I will just say thank you again for supporting me, our mission and our organization. The past 16 years have been a very special chapter in my life; please know that Waste Not will always remain in my heart.
With heartfelt gratitude and blessings,
