Waste Not, Inc has been feeding the Valley’s hungry by rescuing excess perishable food and delivering it the same day to 100 nonprofit recipients including daycare centers, schools, and senior centers in need for 30 years. The organization accomplishes feeding over 75,000 people a year with only six trucks, a refrigerated van and a small, dedicated team. Last year alone, Waste Not rescued 3 million pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste. With one in three children going to bed hungry every night in our community, the local nonprofit’s mission is an important one.
Waste Not is ahead of its time as it is one of the oldest perishable food rescue organizations in the country, long before “food waste” became a buzz word. On Saturday, March 25th from 3 – 7 p.m., the organization will be celebrating its 30 years of service to the Valley with a birthday party at Enchanted Island Amusement Park (1202 W. Encanto Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85007), complete with food, fun, and entertainment.
Everyone is invited to partake in the festivities as they celebrate their mission of feeding the hungry and making this place a better community for us all.
