KEEP ON TRUCKIN'!
November 29, 2010
In this time of continued economic crisis, our hungry, vulnerable neighbors – especially the children – need our help!
Waste NOT urgently needed to purchase a new refrigerated truck to ensure that we can continue to make uninterrupted deliveries of hope and sustenance to thousands of hungry people throughout our Valley.
Two of our refrigerated trucks – in our fleet of five – have clocked more than 200,000 miles and are now requiring expensive repairs that we can no longer sustain. We are blessed beyond measure to have just received funding from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Foundation to replace one truck.
And, in response to another $50,000 grant request for a replacement truck, the Wal-Mart Foundation has issued Waste Not a challenge grant in the amount of $25,000 for the purchase of a new vehicle, asking us to find matching funds to complete the purchase.

BY WORKING TOGETHER WE MADE THIS HAPPEN!
With your help, we reached our goal of raising $25,000 in matching funds for the purchase of our new refrigerated truck! We are currently in the process of placing the order and will most likely take possession of our new truck early in the New Year.
Waste NOT has been providing a one-of-a-kind food rescue service since 1987, transferring food from those who do not need or want it to those who do. Today, more than ever, the simplicity of our program resonates deeply within our community. Our refrigerated trucks are the backbone of our operation. They are on the road six days per week, collecting an average of 6,000 pounds of fresh, perishable food per day from 111 food donors with 151 “pick-up” points. Our drivers make “same-day” deliveries to more than 100 diverse agencies and organizations that feed the hungry including schools, after-school programs, day care centers, senior facilities, transition homes, homeless shelters, veterans facilities and rehabilitation facilities.
This truly is an exciting milestone for Waste NOT! You answered our call for help because you believe in our singular focus of feeding the hungry men, women and children of our Valley with wholesome, nutritious food that would otherwise be thrown away.
By helping us secure this second replacement truck, you have played a pivotal role in bringing our fleet up to date and insuring the safe and timely delivery of life-sustaining food to those who need it most. We are extremely grateful to each and every one of you who helped make this happen! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
